Expert witness testimony and forensic analysis across NZ courts.
Traced and valued concealed Bitcoin and Ethereum holdings across multiple wallets, exchanges, and DeFi protocols during relationship property proceedings. Work included forensic reconstruction of historical balances to establish accurate ownership timelines and beneficial control. Also identified and assessed NFT assets, with individual and collection valuations exceeding NZD $50,000+, applying fair market valuation at the relevant separation dates. Expert testimony supported court-ordered disclosure, enabling equitable asset division across both liquid and illiquid digital holdings.
Provided technical forensic analysis and expert witness testimony on blockchain transactions in a major homicide investigation. Work involved tracing cryptocurrency flows, identifying associated wallets, and mapping transactional behaviour relevant to the Crown's case. In court, delivered simplified explanations to the jury outlining what cryptocurrency is, how blockchain ledgers function, and how wallet attribution and transaction tracing are conducted. Testimony also covered laundering methodologies, obfuscation techniques, scam typologies, and the transactional patterns used by the defendant to move and disguise funds.
Conducted forensic tracing of misappropriated cryptocurrency across layered wallet structures and exchange off-ramps. Analysis reconstructed the movement of funds through multiple transaction hops, linking originating victim deposits to consolidation wallets. Provided expert interpretation of blockchain data for the court, including transaction intent analysis, timing correlations, and exchange interaction points. Findings supported evidential reporting and legal proceedings relating to digital asset misappropriation.
Engaged as independent forensic specialist in relationship property proceedings involving suspected undisclosed cryptocurrency assets. Materials provided were heavily redacted, with analysis limited to transaction dates and approximate fiat values, requiring blockchain correlation without wallet addresses or full transaction identifiers. Using forensic tracing methodologies, on-chain activity was filtered and pattern-matched across thousands of transactions spanning from early 2021 onward, representing multimillion-dollar cumulative volumes.
